Synopsis by Mark Deming

Geoff Edgers is a writer and a serious rock & roll fan who has been able to bring his two great passions together as a music journalist for the Boston Globe. Edgers is also a tireless advocate of The Kinks, the veteran British group he regards as "the greatest band ever." The Kinks stopped working together after the release of the album To The Bone in 1993, and one of Edgers' greatest dreams is for the group to reunite; as Edgers was on the verge of turning 40, he decided it was time to do something about getting The Kinks back together rather than talking. As Edgers set out to contact the former members of The Kinks and try to broker a reunion between the famously contentious members (particularly lead singer and songwriter Ray Davies and his brother, guitarist Dave Davies), he decided to make a film about his project, and Do It Again is a documentary that deals both with the all-but-impossible dream of getting The Kinks back on stage and the obsessions of a fan whose dream is grand but not especially practical. Featuring interviews with Sting, Paul Weller, Zooey Deschanel, Peter Buck, Robyn Hitchcock, Shel Talmy and many others, Do It Again was an official selection at the 2010 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
