Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Per its title, the weekly CBC documentary series Distinguished Canadians offered 30-minute profiles of Canada's foremost educators, scientists, and politicians. For the most part, the series avoided entertainers or other show-business personalities; an exception to this rule was an "inside" episode spotlighting Pierre Juneasu, then the chairman of the Canadian Radio and TV Commission. Like many programs of its ilk, Distinguished Canadians originally aired on Sundays, but moved to a Monday-night slot shortly before ending its run. The series was telecast from April 30 to August 21, 1972.
