Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This film is part of a series that profiles some of the greatest Western artists from the Renaissance through the 20th century. Perhaps no artist is better known than Michelangelo, the visionary Italian painter and sculptor. Born in 1475, Michelangelo was blessed to be alive at a time when patronage flourished. The money he received from the Medici family enabled him to produce many of the works for which he is known today. These include sculptures like David and the Pietà. His masterwork, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, is beautifully filmed and presented here for the enjoyment of the viewer.
