In this ironic drama with some comic touches, things can only improve for the well-educated but unemployed Franz, who lives in a tiny apartment with his dad and his girlfriend -- especially after he gets a job as a late-night gas-station attendant. He discovers a wounded robber in the garage and is forced at gunpoint to give him some first aid. Later he hears that the fugitive was killed by the police, and that some of the money was never discovered. The next day on the job, he pokes around the garage some more and finds a modest amount of cash, which he uses to treat his girlfriend to a pleasant evening out, and for other modest enterprises. However, at this point things begin getting quite complicated, and it is with some bemusement that the boy returns home only to find that it has very nearly burned down.
