Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
With a combination of interviews, archival footage and fast pacing this absorbing three-hour long Austrian documentary follows the experiences of Austrian Jews who fled their country during WW II and resettled in America. The first half of the film chronicles the events that led them to emigrate and the actual voyages themselves. The second half centers on their attempts to make new lives in the States while facing a new, subtler form of anti-Semitism.
