There is no cure for diabetes, but with care and attention to diet and exercise, it can be treated. Statistics reveal that Native Americans are much more likely to get diabetes, especially women. In an effort to lower these numbers, Canada has established an Aboriginal Wellness Centre, which combines traditional healing with modern methods, and also offers educational support.
