Although Leah Baird was one of cinema's woman pioneers, by the 1920s her time had pretty much come and gone. That didn't stop her from turning out solidly entertaining films, however. At the age of 40 (which seemed far more ancient in the days before Michelle Pfeiffer), Baird plays a romantic lead in this comedy-drama, for which she adapted the screenplay herself from a story by John Louis Vance (Baird was also a crack screenwriter.) She's also backed up by a good cast, which includes Ford Sterling (yes, of Mack Sennett fame), John Bowers, Noah Beery, and Mitchell Lewis. With all of this she manages to overcome having only a slip of a plot to work with. It involves the kidnapping of musical comedy actress Mary Miller (Baird). Mary finds her treatment at the hands of the crooks highly distasteful, and through her own cunning she is able to get away from them, survive a number of hair-raising adventures, and win the man of her heart.
