Abandoned in the desert to fend for himself or die trying, a teenage boy encounters a pair of adolescents who have chosen to live outside of society, and who gradually drawn into their treacherous life of crime. Fifteen year old Philip thought he was on his way to tennis camp when his abusive stepfather kicked him out of the car in the middle of the desert. Stumbling through the sand dunes until he can no longer walk, Philip is rescued from certain death by Jack and Lucy, two runaways who live a threadbare existence in a derelict mining town. When Philip and Lucy form an instant bond, Jack grows jealous and leads them both into the nearby suburbs, where together they begin looting houses and taking what they please. Quickly, the severity of their crimes begins to escalate, ultimately leading to a tragedy that leaves them deeply shaken. Later, when Jack attempts to gain the upper hand over Philip, he unwittingly sets the stage for a violent confrontation that will forever change the lives of all three.
