Synopsis by Bhob Stewart
For this 84-minute German-made experimental film, director Werner Nekes created artistic abstractions of nude models in a painterly approach evocative of Matisse, Duchamp, and Durer, heightened by the sonic atmospherics of Anthony Moore's music score. Shown at the 1997 Venice Film Festival, this film should not be confused with Robert P. Davies' Day of the Painter, the 1961 winner of the "Best Live Action Short Subject" Academy Award.
