Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Denny Doherty, former member of the Mamas & the Papas singing aggregation, returned to his hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia to star in this eponymously titled CBC variety series. Most of Doherty's guests hailed from the Great White North, though he also welcomed a number of acts from the United States. On one memorable episode, he managed to reunite the surviving members of the Mamas & the Papas, John and Michelle Phillips ("Mama" Cass Elliott had, of course, died several years earlier). Debuting June 1, 1978, Denny's Sho* (the asterisk was never explained) ran for 13 half-hour episodes.
