Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Made during World War I, the British Democracy is not, as might be expected, a "Kill the Kaiser" tirade. Rather, it is a sensitive study of England's ingrained class system. A snooty aristocrat (Frank Dane) seduces a low-born girl (Alice Russon), knowing full well that he'll never be forced to marry her. The girl's brother (Bruce Gordon) seethes with jealousy; nonetheless, he saves the aristocrat's life on the battlefield. This action causes everyone concerned to see the social status quo in a different light.
