Synopsis by Beth Deki
Designer Debbie Travis demonstrates how easy and accessible home decorating can be. Her techniques are designed for the do-it-yourselfer on a budget. Travis provides step-by-step instructions and lists all the necessary materials and tools to complete each project. In this episode of The Painted House, Travis creates a warm and cheerful country kitchen. She begins the project by creating a painted combed staircase. She adds interest to the room with the illusion of a trompe l'oeil door. The kitchen's dinnerware is given added flair when she transforms it into blue and white spongeware. She completes the country kitchen by adding ornate cut-out paper butterflys to the open kitchen shelves.
