Synopsis by Beth Deki

Designer Debbie Travis demonstrates how easy and accessible home decorating can be. Her techniques are designed for the do-it-yourselfer on a budget. Travis provides step-by-step instructions and lists all the necessary materials and tools to complete each project. In this episode of The Painted House, Travis creates the classic study. First the walls are given an exotic look by creating a faux rhino skin finish. Using styrofoam moldings that have been rubbed in gold paint and bronzing paste she adds a richness to the room. The room is completed by creating an aged look parchment lampshade. The effect is warm and masculine, the classic study.
