Synopsis by Beth Deki
Designer Debbie Travis demonstrates how easy and accessible home decorating can be. Her techniques are designed for the do-it-yourselfer on a budget. Travis provides step-by-step instructions and lists all the necessary materials and tools to complete each project. In this episode of The Painted House, Travis creates a bold bathroom makeover. She begins by demonstrating how to achieve an African printed wall with the use of a melamine print and a selection of paints. The walls are also enhanced by using homemade stencils to add words. Next the classic clawfoot tub is given a modern look by adding gold and burgundy stripes to its exterior. She concludes the episode by creating a faux frame for the bathroom's mirror with the use of ornamental gesso.
