Synopsis by Robert Firsching

Prolific Hong Kong filmmaker Jeff Lau wrote this absorbing cross-generational drama directed by Lau Yu-ming. Hilary Tsui stars as Yan, a teenaged girl who is hired on a remake of a 1960s film called "Days of Tomorrow." The original had starred Yan's late father, Fong Tak-shing (Andy Lau), and the girl hopes to learn more about him by participating in the remake, as her mother refuses to speak about him, still bitter from the events which separated them. Much of the film consists of extended flashbacks to Tak-shing's past, as he is groomed for star status by the beautiful actress Nancy Mei (Carrie Ng). Despite Nancy's interest in him, Tak-shing's heart belongs to his old girlfriend Ling (Jay Lau), who is selected to star in the original "Days of Tomorrow" with him. Complications result when the elderly head of the studio, Lui (Henry Fong), sets his eyes on Ling, and not even her pregnancy with Tak-shing's child will keep him from trying to separate the couple and have the young woman for himself. Yip San co-stars with Deanie Yip and Lau Kong.
