Hamdullah was a political prisoner for many years. In a gesture of reconciliation, the government agrees to release him if he will agree to a new identity and plastic surgery. Thus, he becomes Yavuz. In the meantime, his wife and son have concluded that he died in prison and have put their lives back together -- using the story of Hamdullah as a martyr as a foundation for their lives. Once he's released, the man who is now Yavuz has nothing to do, no one to see, nowhere to go. It's only natural that he would attempt to spy on his wife and child. Things get somewhat more serious when he attempts to go to bed with her, especially since she doesn't recognize him. When she does, thanks to a story she hears from another prisoner, she is not pleased.
