Synopsis by Nathan Southern
As a feature film spinoff of the popular 2002 French Canadian television series of the same name, the ci-fi comedy feature Dans une galaxie près de chez vous (AKA In a Galaxy Close To You...) unfolds in the year 2034, when the Earth's ozone layer has been completely destroyed by industrial gases and carbon dioxide. As the Earth buckles beneath the oppressive weight of the sun, the Canadian government soon deems it necessary to find a new planet for 6,000,000 earthlings to colonize. It thus sends a spaceship, the Romano Fafard up into orbit, piloted by captain, Charles Patenaude (Guy Jodoin) and his crew; they intend to journey to the farthest reaches of the galaxy, and to find a hospitable planet "where mankind has never set foot." This leads them to a number of increasingly strange and eccentric interstellar locales.
