Larry (Larry David) is watching the end of a football game when his wife Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) comes home after visiting her relatives in Florida for four days. Cheryl comments on Larry's stubble, and he says, "The prostitutes don't seem to mind it." But the real trouble starts when Larry's attention is drawn to the game while Cheryl is talking about her trip. Cheryl gets angry, and Larry's apology doesn't help. Later on, as the two prepare for bed, Larry is chatty, but Cheryl clams up. He apologizes again, and she says, "It's fine." "I'm sensing rancor," he counters. The next day, a still unshaven Larry decides to buy Cheryl an expensive bracelet she's had her eye on. But the proprietors of the high-end jewelry store won't buzz in the disheveled-looking Larry. Larry wants to call his friend Richard Lewis so Richard can go in and buy the bracelet for him, but he doesn't want to talk to Richard's girlfriend. He cajoles a confused passerby (played by the show's co-executive producer and director, Robert Weide) into listening in on his cell phone, and hanging up if a woman answers. By the time Richard shows up, the jewelry store is closed for lunch. A strange blind man (Patrick Kerr) then accosts Richard and Larry, and gets them to help him "move some boxes" in his new apartment around the corner. They end up setting up all his furniture for him, and by the time they get back to the jewelry store, it's closed for the day. The next day, Richard calls Larry to tell him he wants to buy the bracelet for his girlfriend.
