Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This is a rather heavy-handed propaganda film, disguised as a documentary. It uses dreary black-and-white images of the poorest conditions of pre-Castro Cuba and contrasts them with cheery color shots of selected improvements, complete with an upbeat musical score and revolutionary slogans. The narration by the director effusively expresses admiration for the beleaguered Castro regime.
