Synopsis by Alice Day

The use of chemotherapy has increased over the last decades, as advances in drugs result in improvements in cancer patients. However, many patients might experience an exhausting cycle of unpleasant reactions to these drugs. They begin to dread the therapy sessions, during which they can expect nausea and vomiting. Controlling the Behavioral Side Effects of Chemotherapy features the efforts of two clinical psychologists who are addressing the needs of these patients. Dr. T. Burish and Dr. W. Redd have formulated methods for teaching patients relaxation techniques to relieve their responses to the powerful drugs.
