This documentary chronicles the 1977 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, beginning with the opening night dinner and following some of the competition's major highlights up through the closing Awards Ceremony, with coverage of the gold medal winning victor's debut performance at Carnegie Hall. As an added bonus, the program features extensive footage of competitors rehearsing, as well as interviews with conductor John Giordano and the competition founder/namesake, pianist Van Cliburn.
