Synopsis by Alice Day

In this episode of the popular series Connections 3, author and host James Burke engages the viewer in another program demonstrating how seemingly unrelated inventions and events throughout history were ultimately connected and the profound results of those interrelations. Connections 3: An Invisible Object takes a trip five hundred years into the past as Burke guides his audience from black holes in space to Joan of Arc, the Pony Express, and a present from Catherine de Medici that influenced modern pasteurization processes. And this, of course, led to the first vending machine.
