The Connections series can be found in the media collections of many schools and universities, and for good reason. James Burke, creator, writer, producer, and host of the programs, offers a potent mix of history and science, presenting it all with a good dose of humor. The pace is fast, and the number of elements introduced can be dizzying, but Burke keeps it all under control. In Connections 2: Better Than the Real Thing, he covers Huygens, keratin, bloomers, iron, night vision, vitamins, the spectroscope, bicycles, and zippers.
