Synopsis by Sean Hurley

In The Coney Island of Lawrence Ferlinghetti Christopher Felver examines the life and work of this Beat-era luminary. Founder of the famous City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco, Ferlinghetti located himself at the heart of the Beat poetry movement. The film uses interviews with the Ferlinghetti, now over 75 years old, as well as archival footage from the late '50s and early '60s to create a lyrical video biography of this American literary icon. Beat cohorts Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, Anne Waldman, Andre Vosnesensky, and Amira Baraka also appear to help tell Ferlinghetti's story.
