Synopsis by Ryan Shriver

Longtime friends become enemies whilst battling over electricity in director Rodrigo Triana's 2002 comedy drama Como el Gato y el Ratón (Like Cat and Mouse). In one rustic section of Bogota, Colombia, electricity and municipal lighting have finally been brought to the masses. Quickly discovering a way to steal electricity off of the main lines, residents Cavetano Brochero (Jairo Camargo) and his neighbor Miguel Cristancho (Gilberto Ramirez) spearhead the effort in their neighborhood to connect the illegal power lines, in spite of the warnings and protestations of their city counselor Kennedy Corzo (Diego Vásquez). Kennedy's worst fears are nearly realized when Miguel's wife, Consuelo (Alina Lozano), has a near-death experience involving the illicit wires, prompting the wrath of Miguel and an all out war between the families. As Kennedy tries to mend fences between the feuding families, an intra-family romance between Miguel and Cavetano's children blossoms, which threatens to either end the feud or escalate it. Como el Gato y el Ratón was selected in the program for the 2002 San Sebastian Film Festival.
