Synopsis by Janiss Garza

When Tom Mix shows up in this Western, the only ones who mistake him for a tenderfoot are the bad guys. Kent Hollis (Mix) has arrived in Dry Bottom, New Mexico to settle the affairs of his dead father. But when he discovers that the town is at the mercy of "Big Bill" Dunlavey (George Nichols) and his crew, he decides to stick it out at dad's old ranch for a spell. Although Hollis quickly earns Dunlavey's enmity, he also wins the affection of Nellie Hazelton (Brownie Vernon). There is a race on for sheriff, and Dunlavey is determined to win -- no matter how much he has to stuff the ballot box. Hollis, of course, will have none of it and he keeps a firm eye on the polling place. But one of Dunlavey's men, Yuma Ed (Pat Christian), has taken Nellie captive and Hollis has to go to her rescue. There are others, however, who take his place in keeping Dunlavey away from the ballot box. Dunlavey and his gang head out to put an end to Hollis' tenure as sheriff before it begins, but the battle ends with the villain dead and his henchmen rounded up.
