Synopsis by Robert Firsching
Veteran Hong Kong filmmaker Eric Tsang, best known for the first two Aces Go Places films, scored a rare flop with this spottily amusing action-comedy. Norman Tsui plays Colonel Ng, who tries to whip a misfit group of recruits into an elite team of triad-busters. Much of the story deals with two of them, Chow Chun-Kit (Andy Lau) and Lau Kar-lun (Tony Leung). Chow gets into a fight in a bar and gets kicked off the squad, only to attract the attentions of a major crimelord's pretty daughter. It's all a scheme to set up the gangster for a fake assassination attempt and the inevitable phony rescue by Chow which gains him the kingpin's trust and an opening into the organization. This leads to a huge sting in which Chow accompanies the crimelord to a major weapons buy and the squad converges not only on him, but also on a number of big arms dealers as well. Fennie Yuen co-stars with Frankie Chan, Shing Fui-on, and Miu Kiu-wai.
