Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This film takes a satiric look at the greening of the baseball memorabilia industry. Gone are the days when kids innocently traded their favorite baseball cards on the neighborhood corner. The selling of baseball cards is now big business. The video takes the viewer to an auction at Sotheby's, where one card fetched almost half a million dollars. An old uniform can bring as much as 150,000 dollars, and a vial of Ebbets Field dirt is worth its weight in gold. The documentary includes footage of the high stakes buying and selling at conventions and at baseball stadiums where wares are hawked. Interviews with players, fans, sportscasters, dealers, and marketers, round out the story of this aspect of America's favorite pastime.
