Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This Russian propaganda film focuses upon a lowly military-company clerk, nicknamed Clown George because he defensively makes a joke out of everything. But George stops laughing when he receives the news that his company's beloved commandant has died. Knowing that this news will demoralize the other men, our hero disguises himself as the commander, then leads the troops to victory under the banner of Marx and Lenin. Dying nobly in defense of the Soviet cause, Clown George is buried side by side with the commander whom he had so successfully impersonated.
