This episode, Civilisation, Vol. IX: The Pursuit of Happiness, features 18th century achievements, as heard in the complex character of concertos, symphonies, and other works by Bach, Handel, Mozart, and Haydn. The program also discovers the paintings and etchings of Tiepolo and the Rococo architecture, which during this period reached its peak in Bavarian churches and palaces.
