Synopsis by Robert Firsching

Poon Man-Kit directed this standard Hong Kong gangster movie, a triad drama centering on Third Lam (Max Mok) and Sas (Andy Lau), two young urchins who have had to struggle and scrape all their lives to survive on the mean streets of the city. Third Lam has the toughest time of it after holding out some money from a triad boss who forcibly addicts him to heroin as a way of getting revenge. Third Lam kicks the habit, but gets a teenage girl named May (May Lo) pregnant and then ends up accidentally assaulting a police officer, landing himself and Sas in jail once more. The pair do a six-year stint, then borrow some money from a loan shark and set themselves up as pimps. They can't get the money to pay back the usurious loan shark, so are given the option of being beaten to death or stealing some ransom money paid for a child whom the man kidnapped. Initially, Third Lam and Sas agree to steal the money, but soon realize that the child is a student of May's, who has become a teacher in the intervening years. Shing Fui-on co-stars.
