Synopsis by Maggie Sadler
After their medical device business failed, Barry and Karen Mason secured jobs selling explicit magazines for publisher Larry Flynt. Over the years, their temporary source of income evolved into a Santa Monica Boulevard storefront and film production company. Director Rachel Mason uses life to inspire her art in this documentary, using candid and private interviews with her family to explore her unconventional coming-of-age against the backdrop of the AIDS crisis and the strict emphasis on tradition put forth by the Reagan administration.
