Synopsis by Robert Firsching

Another depressing sheep-opera from Greek filmmaker Spyros Ziangos, this pastoral melodrama concerns a shepherdess named Chrissavyie (Maria Youroussi) whose name translates as "golden dawn," an apt description of the happy life she leads until the inevitable tragedy strikes. It seems that Chrissavyie's future with her beloved (Yiorgos Bellos) is going to be filled with joy and happiness, but then he dies and she is so heartbroken that is driven to take her own life. Dozens of films like this one were produced in Greece at the time, and were very popular there, although most found little crossover audience internationally. Lakis Terzas co-stars with Rena Galani and Yiorgos Loukakis.
