Synopsis by Nathan Southern
The location is fitting: just as Frederic Chopin (1810-49) developed and sustained a reputation (well before the age of twenty) as Poland's preeminent national composer, so the Palace of ?a?cut continues to bear a reputation as one of the nation's most lavish and beautiful locales, one especially fitting for musical events. Here, the two are paired together, as famed concert pianist Marek Drewnowski interprets fourteen Chopin works against the beautiful backdrop of ?a?cut. The selections in question - accompanied by visuals that intertwine performance footage of Drewnowski with picturesque cutways to ?a?cut - include twelve Chopin waltzes and Chopin's two piano concertos.
