Carol Kane guest stars as the emotionally fragile Amanda, whom Diane (Shelley Long) befriended while she was at the mental institution. Characteristically, Sam (Ted Danson) puts the moves on Amanda, despite Diane's warnings that he's making a terrible mistake. He sure is: The obsessive Amanda introduces Sam to her folks within hours after their first date, insisting that she and Sam are to be married immediately. Desperately, our hero tries to figure a way out of this mess without sending Amanda back off the deep end.
