Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This French film offers a clear-sighted look at a hard-working segment of the transient underclass in France. Charlie (Serge Sauvion) travels around Paris and the surrounding countryside selling oilcloth at outdoor bazaars. While he is looking for more permanent work, he runs into two girls, Guislaine (Jeanne Goupil) and Josyane (Nathalie Drivet), who are 19 and 20 respectively. They want to work with him, selling oilcloth. The movie shows their ups and downs, and growing closeness, as they travel about.
