This documentary of tenor saxophone and flute player Charles Lloyd follows the musician and his quartet through a series of concerts from San Francisco's Filmore West to Austria and Czechoslovakia. Lloyd started out playing with Chico Hamilton while working towards his graduate degree at the University of Southern California in 1960. A fan of Charlie Parker, Lloyd presents elements of the late jazz great but with a more subdued style that has earned him accolades and fans from around the world. Live concerts and sessions from the quartet show the vibrancy of jazz from a true master.
