An ambitious Columbia University graduate uses the Machiavellian tactics gleaned from a street smart drug dealer to beat a corporate scandal, and strike back at the Wall Street banker who's threatening to end his career in this tense tale of cutthroat politics. Darrell Barnes grew up in North Philadelphia. Though life wasn't easy in his tough neighborhood, Darrel was raised right by his loving grandmother, and eventually earned a scholarship to Columbia University. Before Darrel goes off to school, however, he crosses paths with Dre Newell - an enterprising drug dealer who bestows him a copy of Niccoló Machiavelli's masterpiece, The Prince. Later, after Darrel earns his MBA and goes to work for a prominent investment firm, a perfect storm of scandals, obstacles, and treachery find Darrel putting the Italian philosopher's political theories into practice in order to succeed professionally, and save his own life.
