Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Born Hakeem Seriki and tagged with the moniker "The Mixtape Messiah," the twenty-six-year-old southern rap phenom Chamillionaire burst onto the charts in late 2005, amid a rap renaissance in the performer's native city of Houston. The performer made this ascent alongside contemporaries Mike Jones, Pall Wall and Slim Thug, all part of the same musical resurgence. Universal Records signed Chamillionaire and issued his first major-label EP, The Sound of Revenge, that same year; it instantly shot into the top ten. The home video release Chamillionaire: Chamilitary - Sounds Like Revenge features the rapper performing numbers from that album such as "In the Trunk," "Frontin'," and "Bad Guy."
