Gyan Mukherjee follows up on his smash hit Kismet, with this melodrama about two long time friends. Thakur Jaipal Singh (Jagdish Sethi) and Jamuna Prasad's (Rafiq Ghaznavi) relationship hits a serious snag when Jaipal Singh grows suspicious of his wife Savitri (Motibai) after she and Jamuna Prasad develop a mutual interest in classical music. Jaipal Singh's grown daughter Sumitra (Naseem Banu) meets Jamuna Prasad's son Arjun (Ashok Kumar) and they soon fall in love. After working to stop a disease outbreak, Sumitra meets her mother without recognizing her. Later, Savitri is killed by a falling tree just as Jaipal Singh seeks her out.
