The Century: Events That Shaped the World is an excellent 12-part ABC News production hosted by Peter Jennings that explores the many events and personalities that colored the 20th century. Drawing from thousands of hours of archival footage as well as interviews, this series draws the viewer in with its compelling presentation. In Heaven and Earth: Lindbergh's Journey, Jennings leads the viewer through the history of the American '20s. Aviator Charles Lindbergh serves as the metaphor for the time; his small-town values, combined with his embrace and mastery of new and dangerous technology, caused him to become an icon and American hero.
