A true life tale of dictators, secret identities, and political agents unfolds with chilling detail as filmmakers Laura Imperiale, Shula Erenberg, and Maria Ines Roque examine the treacherous career of Argentine businessman Ricardo Miguel Cavallo, a man alleged to have committed unspeakable acts of torture and terrorism against innocent civilians as part of the National Reorganization Process' "Dirty War." The National Reorganization Process was the military junta that ruled Argentina from 1976 to 1983. Cavallo's code name within the junta was "Serpico," and after disappearing to Mexico he nearly got away with his crimes against humanity. In 2000, Cavallo was indicted by Spain for those crimes, yet despite Mexico's best efforts to extradite him, the slippery businessman began a time-consuming series of legal maneuverings by appeaing the judge's decision. With this documentary, the filmmakers highlight how impunity frequently allows corrupt dictators and leaders to get away with their barbaric crimes while asking when, if ever, justice will be served.
