Synopsis by Nathan Southern
The attitude toward stray cats in Rome differs dramatically from the attitudes toward stray cats in the United States; in Rome, an estimated 200,000 homeless felines patrol the streets and desperately need human assistance to survive. Romans, however, regard the creatures as little better than germ-laden rats or mice. Michael W. Hunt's documentary Cats of Rome observes a six-month period at an Italian Cat Sanctuary, where the proprietors struggle against all odds to care and provide for the needy felines to which they have offered sanctuary.
