Take a musical journey back into our classical heritage with this release featuring two vintage performances by conductor Carlo Maria Giulini captured live in the 1960s. In the first performance, Giulini leads the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus, soprano Ilva Ligabue, mezzo-soprano Gracy Bumbry, tenor Sandor Konya, and bass Raffaele Arie in presenting Guiseppe Verdi's "Messa da Requiem" at London's Royal Festival Hall in April of 1964. The second performance finds Giulini leading the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus in a performance of Verdi's "Quattro pezzi sacri" at Croyden's Fairfield Hall in March of 1968.
