Synopsis by Mark Deming
Five teenagers team up with an ecologically minded superhero to help save the Earth in this collection of episodes from the TBS animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers. In Captain Planet and the Planeteers: A Hero for Earth, the goddess Gaia (voice of Whoopi Goldberg) distributes powerful rings representing the elements to five concerned young people -- Linka (voice of Kath Soucie), Kwame (voice of LaVar Burton), Ma-Ti (voice of Scott Menville), Gi (voice of Janice Kawaye), and Wheeler (voice of Joey Dedio). With their new powers, the kids join forces with Captain Planet (voice of David Coburn), who is doing battle with eco-villian Hoggish Greedy (voice of Edward Asner) as he threatens the coastline with his offshore drilling projects.
