Synopsis by Nathan Southern

In this music release, one of the key progenitors of the contemporary tropical sound, Cuban recording artist Candido Fabre, headlines two 2005 concerts mounted, shot and performed in Edinburgh, Scotland with the support of a fourteen-piece backup band. Dubbed the 'Fairtrade Gathering World Music Concert' and the 'Make Poverty History Concert,' and held on two successive back-to-back days, the events were used to spread global awareness of the 2005 G8 Summit, in which world leaders met to discuss the sociopolitical problems impacting countries on the lowest rungs of the economic totem. This program features extensive coverage of both concerts and an interview with Fabre in which he discusses the importance and relevance of the said events.
