Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This light comedy is a bit of a departure for Helene Chadwick, who was generally known for her roles in melodramas. Old Caleb Piper (Spottiswood Aitken) lives with his head in the clouds, and as a result has a hard time coming up with the money to pay the mortgage on his little seaside cottage. Some of the gossipy townsfolk are determined to see the home repossessed because of rumors circulating about Piper's daughter, Mary (Chadwick). Mary, in an attempt to scrape up some money, turns the house into a hotel, but only two men -- stranded movie people -- check in. One of them, Tracy Carter (William Lawrence), takes a liking to Mary, but his ambivalent behavior toward her causes more gossip. Mary makes one last-ditch attempt to make money by joining a film company. Carter turns out to be the leading man, and when Mary is fired he insists that she be kept on. Since she is being paid out of his salary, once again she is compromised. He proves his honest love for her, however, by proposing. Piper's mortgage is paid off and all ends well.
