With his legendary "Wild West Show," Buffalo Bill Cody (1846-1917) attained a status as not simply a celebrity but one synonymous with the Old West. He was a showman extraordinaire at heart, and proved it by working enchanting elements into the traveling tent show, including the recruitment of actual cowboys and cowgirls, costumes that divided the troupe into stage heroes and stage villains, and many other component that thrilled audiences on two continents. But what of the actual figure responsible for this wizardry? As originally produced for public television, this historical documentary offers a biography of Cody, touching on the many colorful events of his life and etching out his mysterious and elusive personal character.
