Although Eugene O'Brien was the perfect co-star for formidable actresses such as Norma Talmadge and Ethel Barrymore, he wasn't really a strong enough presence to carry a whole film on his own. This didn't stop him from trying, however, which resulted in routine dramas such as this one. Michael Strange (O'Brien) grew up in a little fishing village with his grandfather, who had hoped that he would study for the ministry with his friend, John Stephens (Warren Cook). But Strange has always aspired to be an actor. Because Strange's dead father had once done a favor for artist Paul Grayson (Frank Lossee), he now offers Strange the chance to come to the big city and take a stab at an acting career. Strange is swept up by the exciting life he leads there and soon he has fallen in love with Linda Greer (Eileen Cassidy). They marry, but the next day, as they are packing for their honeymoon, Grayson walks in and reveals that Linda was his mistress. Strange is horrified by this news and he runs away to Stephens' mission. He can't bear to leave Linda, however, so he returns to their apartment to find Grayson dead: Linda shot him when he tried to make her come back to him. The couple flees in a storm and Linda comes down with pneumonia. The police track them down, but Linda dies. Although he is heartbroken, Strange finds comfort with his childhood sweetheart, Mary Bruce (Elinor Fair).
