Synopsis by Mark Deming

Guitarist Brian Setzer is a musician who's made a career out of bringing together the sound and the past with the energy of the present day, first with his top-selling rockabilly combo the Stray Cats and later as the leader of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, who brought the swing revival to the mainstream. The Brian Setzer Orchestra: Live in Japan captures Setzer and his big band on-stage during a tour stop in Tokyo. The band swings through 19 songs, including "Jump, Jive and Wail," "The Dirty Boogie," "This Cat's on a Hot Tin Roof," and "Gettin' in the Mood." The set list also includes several of Setzer's hits with the Stray Cats, including "Rock This Town" and "Stray Cat Strut."
